Inshore fishing in Jupiter is almost entirely about tide timing. The incoming tide pushes bait into the Loxahatchee system and activates snook, redfish, and tarpon. The first two hours of an incoming tide on a new or full moon are peak bite windows. Your captain will plan the entire day around this cycle — it's why local knowledge matters so much.

Jupiter captains actively schedule clients around moon phases. A full moon in January or February during sailfish season is the highest-percentage booking you can make all year.
Sailfish · Mahi · Tuna · Gulf Stream74–78°F is the sailfish sweet spot and also ideal for mahi. Below 70°F pushes tarpon south and concentrates wahoo. Above 82°F in summer pushes fish to deeper, cooler water. NOAA Buoy 41114 gives real-time offshore water temp — check it before booking an offshore trip and ask your captain about current conditions.

Summer afternoon thunderstorms are predictable and most captains return to dock by early afternoon. The best two months to fish Jupiter, full stop. Sailfish are stacked along the Gulf Stream edge in January and February, and this is when Jupiter truly earns its title as the Sailfish Capital of the World. Water temps hit the 72–76°F sweet spot, the fish are concentrated, and experienced captains can put you on multiple fish per trip.

March is a transition month in the best way — sailfish season is still strong early in the month, and by mid-March the first mahi-mahi start showing up along the Gulf Stream. Inshore, the Loxahatchee warms and snook activity increases. One of Jupiter's most versatile months.
April and May are arguably the most exciting months for inshore anglers. Giant tarpon roll through the Loxahatchee River and Jupiter Inlet on their northward spring migration — 100+ lb fish are common. Meanwhile, offshore, the mahi-mahi explosion begins. Two completely different world-class fisheries operating at peak simultaneously.
Summer in Jupiter means mahi-mahi limits offshore and snook action inshore. The Gulf Stream sits close and consistent, weed lines form regularly, and mahi stack up along floating debris. Inshore, snook fishing peaks around structures and the beach surf. Earlier morning departures beat the afternoon storms that characterize Florida summers.
The shoulder season. Mahi winds down offshore, sailfish haven't arrived yet, and offshore trips shift toward wahoo, amberjack, and bottom fishing. Inshore, snook and redfish remain active. This is the best time for value bookings — fewer tourists, lower charter rates, and local knowledge becomes even more valuable as fish patterns shift.
November marks the return of sailfish to Jupiter waters. Early November fish can be unpredictable, but by Thanksgiving week the bite is typically consistent. December is when word spreads and charter bookings surge — book early if your dates fall in this window. Inshore, cooler water brings black drum, sheepshead, and flounder into play.
